A boat makes 20 knots. Is the boat faster than wind if it is blowing at 20 m/s?One knot is 1,852 km/h.
Lina came to the U.S. and rented a scooter. Gas costs 4 dollars per gallon. What is the price in kronor per liter? If you have practiced unit conversion of of km/h to m/s you know how this works.
Let's take it one step at a time and start with dollars to kronor If 1 U.S. dollar on this particular day costs 7 kronor, then how many kronor are there is 4 dollars? 4 · 7 is 28. And an American gallon is roughly 3,8 liters. Now, we want to know the answer in kronor per liter.
The slash can be read as division, kronor divided by liter. So we take 28 divided by 3.78541. That is about 7.4… or 7 kronor and 40 öre per liter Is that reasonable? This is about half of what gasoline costs in Sweden, and it is pretty accurate since the gasoline taxes in most European countries are significantly higher than in the U.S. You can also think about it like this: If a gallon is about four liters and gasoline costs four dollars per gallon.
That means it must cost about one dollar per liter. And if one dollar is 7 kronor, then this is pretty accurate.
