Numerical patterns with a constant multiplier: Applied

It’s Sunday afternoon. Lina has just returned from a craft fair where she was selling friendship bracelets. She took 26 with her, and sold them all! Way to go, Lina! Now Lina wants to make more friendship bracelets – a lot more – to sell at next Sunday’s fair.

Lina gets to work again. By the end of Monday, she’s made two bracelets. By Tuesday evening, she has four done. By the end of Wednesday… she has eight. It looks like Lina is getting quicker with practice!

If she can keep getting faster, how many bracelets will Lina have by the end of Saturday? Let’s see. From Monday to Tuesday, Lina’s total went from two to four. It doubled. And from Tuesday to Wednesday, it went from four to eight.

It doubled again. So let’s continue the pattern. Thursday will be double Wednesday’s total of eight… that’s 16. Friday will be double 16. That’s 32.

And Saturday will be double 32. That will make a grand total of 64 bracelets. That should keep your customers happy, Lina!
