Which of the following term is mostly associated with conservatism?
Ah, what's this now? Some politician thinks we ought to "remodel the entire educational system from the ground up". Haha. Some people have really high opinions of themselves. What's to laugh at?
The education system needs new visions, someone to really remodel it from the ground up, doesn't it? It's exactly this, "remodel from the ground up", that makes me laugh. Every time someone gets hold of a vital component of society, and 'redesigns it from the ground up', it goes straight down the toilet! This idea, that a small group of people would be able to figure out, and design, a better society, it's not realistic! Society is too complex, and we humans have neither the wisdom nor the morals, to be able to redesign a new society.
There are good reasons things are the way the are. What? So you mean everything is good then, just as it is today? Not necessarily. But this society, with all its institutions, laws, norms, yes our culture, our way of life... ...
has grown through small gradual changes, over hundreds of years. Time has shown us what works, and it would be quite presumptuous to believe that we ourselves could come up with a better way of doing things, just like that. Stability, my friends, society prospers through s t a b i l i t y! More haste: less speed. Hahaa.
Listen to that! Of course those who have the power and the money want stability! You who own the companies, obviously want to conserve society the way it looks right now, since it benefits you - you just want to protect your entitlements and privileges. Aahhh... It's like this: those who own companies, do that because they had an idea, and then worked hard.
They haven't taken anything from anyone -- they've built it from the ground. To own one's property gives a person security: if times get tough, then you have your assets to fall back on. And then you are less dependent on the state for your security. To own is freedom from dependence. And also: if you own something, then you'll take better care of it.
Ownership leads to responsibility. I mean, who's interested in working hard, to start and manage a company, if that company is then to be owned by the government, or by everyone together? Nah, private ownership is one of the cornerstones of a good society. That's easy to say for someone who's inherited a company. Look instead at the people at the bottom of society, those who do the dishes in restaurants, hand out papers in the mornings, and drive the buses late at night.
They are the cornerstones of society. Nah. You fail to see that people are different. Some are good at singing, others at running a business. That sounds very much like a way to force people to stay put, and keep them from developing into everything they can become.
I think you underestimate each person's own ability, her inherent potential, to become anything. That sounds very nice and all. But you confuse equal in worth, with being the same. All people are not the same. And you're not doing them any service by pretending they are.
You wouldn't want the world's best football player to take care of your finances? Or the best policeman to cook your food? Some people are inventive, or have strong leadership qualities. Others are better suited to help out, to work under the supervision of someone else. And that's not a bad thing!
No one should be ashamed of being in the position where nature has placed them! Professional pride, and each person in their place! Mmm. As long as it's not you who's going to lead us...
